Graduate programs lead to the degree of master of science with a major in family, community health, or gerontological nursing, and a PhD (doctorate) in nursing with a focus on rural health. Functional roles at the master's level include clinical nurse specialist, educator, administrator, or nurse practitioner. Undergraduate programs lead to a bachelor's of science degree with the major of nursing.
